Statistic Question for Normal Distribution?
Apr 24, 879 by MIKE | Posted in Mathematics
A person's blood glucose level and diabetes are closely related. Let x be a random variable measured in milligrams of glucose per deciliter (1/10 of a liter) of blood. After a 12-hour fast, the random variable x will have a distribution that is approximately
a) Z = (x - µ)/σ = (60 - 82)/30 = -0.7333
The probability associated with Z = -0.7333 is 0.2285
BUT this is the probability that x < 60. To find the probability that x > 60 you must subtract this from 1. Or 1- 0.2285 = 0.7715

Sheila's doctor is concerned that sheila may suffer from gestational diabetes. Sheila's measured glucose level one hour after ingesting sugary drink varies according to the normal distribution with a mean=125 mg/dl and a standard deviation of 10 mg/dl.
there is no way to do it on a calculator
u hv 2 refer to a z table for normal distribution
it shows dat L wil b 125 + 1.645 S.D.
= 125 + 1.645*10 = 141.45 => 141mg/dl
